At the time other operators began working the London bus routes a mass of liveries appeared on the streets of the capital. The attractive colours of Hong Kong Citybus was retained by First on fleet number 782, registered N982 EHJ as it ran route 645 to Chingford Station.

Christmas draws near and this is the event to bring the year to an end in a happy way with opportunities to spend your money on transport memorabilia from books to models, photos to spare parts.  

Part of our collection of historic buses and coaches will again move to one side to make way for nearly a hundred stalls, stands and sellers offering everything from books about Wigan’s buses to genuine Stockport Corporation Transport ticket machines, and from photos of long-gone trams to real bus stops. An unusual shopping trip can be capped with a ride back in time, as a free heritage bus service using old double-deckers from the 1960s and 1970s will link the Museum with Manchester’s Victoria railway station throughout both days of the event.

If you are unable to attend the event then you needn't miss out as the models will also be available to purchase by mail order from 5th December or by calling the museums shop on 0161 205 2122 any Wednesday, Saturday, or Sunday between 10.00am and 4.30pm. 

They will also be available from The Museum of Transport Greater Manchester's online shop at www.motgmshop.co.uk

In Manchester the “Tomato Soup” livery was either loved or loathed in equal measure. Over the years First made subtle changes to their livery and our model features 4522 registered SND 522X on route 559 to Bolton and features the bold Greater Manchester markings. RRP £34.50

29807 - Wright Dennis Lance - Southend Transport

Southend’s Wright bodied Lance’s served the Corporation for many years, eventually becoming part of the First fleet serving Essex, one has now gone into preservation. Fleet number LSL 004 registered M764 JPA is working route 6 to Eastwood, Kent Elms. RRP £34.50

Norfolk Green has proved a very popular fleet on our models with the SLF Dart selling out almost as soon as it was released.
