Bachmann Exclusive: 38118 - Bristol VRT - Eastern National

We have been asked by Bachmann Europe Plc to produce another exclusive model, which will be available solely from Bachmann Stockists. 

There was a mixed reception to the rear-engined Bristol VRT when it was first introduced. Midland Scottish had purchased a number of the early vehicles but found them troublesome. They returned these buses to Bristol for improvements but they were still not happy with them, so in 1971 they arranged to swap 15 of these 'troublesome' VRT's, with Eastern National for a similar amount of Lodekka’s.

Once in service at their new Essex home, they became reliable and popular vehicles. Many of them were to retain the blue and cream colours of Midland Alexander (including the Scottish quirk of having cream panels where adverts would ordinarily be) which made them a distinctive and attractive addition to the Eastern National fleet.

E38118 - Bristol VRT - Eastern National

Our model depicts SMS 31H, which operated out of the Wood Green (WG) garage and ran on fleet number 3005. This vehicle is shown operating on the popular limited stop route 400, which ran between the Essex seaside town of Southend and London Victoria.

20456 - Bristol VR III - First Eastern National

A familiar sight on the roads of Essex, the green and yellow colours of First Eastern National Bristol VR III. Registered WTH 949T, fleet number 3220 works route 70 to Braintree via Marks Tey, Coggleshall. RRP £32.50

34207 - AEC Weymann RLH - Midland General

Midland General operated quite a few of these RLH styled Weymann buses and to create these vehicles we have modified our casting, removing the high level flashing indicators. Registration number ONU 633, fleet number 424 works route C2 to Alfreton. RRP £32.50

16537 - Leyland MCW Atlantean - Wallasey Corporation 

Wallasey Corporation were a popular Merseyside operator and their unusual yellow green liveried buses were easily recognisable. Leyland Atlantean JHF 826, fleet number 26 operates route 3 to Seacombe via Wallasey Village. RRP £32.50

17229 - Leyland Nation MKI Long - Konectbus

Konectbus is an independent fleet based in the centre of Norfolk. Operating amongst their modedn buses is the beautifully restored Leyland National which is popular with local travelers. Registered UFX 852S, fleet numbered 152 and is shown working route 17 to Dereham. RRP £32.50

27508 - Wright Scania Axcess - Midland Classic

The first of a new fleet in our range, Midland Classic of Burton upon Trent operate a large and varied fleet in the Derby area. Registered S371 SET, fleet number 71 operates route 21 to Swadlincote Bus Park. RRP £32.50

35212 - AEC Swift 6 Bay Bus - Sheffield Transport

A new variation of our 36' BET 6 bay casting, this AEC Swift is decorated in the livery of Sheffield Transport. Registered DWB 51H, fleet numbered 51 and operating route 85 to Gainsborough. RRP £32.50

36708 - SLF Dart Series 2 One Door Bus - Plymouth Citybus

We are continuing to build on our Plymouth Citybus fleet of models and think this SLF Dart looks very smart in the red and white of the Citybus livery. Registered R123 OFJ, fleet numbered 23 and is shown operating on route 25 to West Hoe.  RRP £32.50

Bachmann Exclusive: 16137 - Leyland PD2 - C.I.E.

We were recently asked by Bachmann Europe Plc to produce another exclusive model which will be available solely from Bachmann retailers and in very limited numbers.

16137 - Leyland PD2 Highbridge - C.I.E. (Córas Iompair Éireann)

This striking Leyland PD2 Highbridge bus is decorated in the later cream and blue livery of Ireland’s C.I.E. (Córas Iompair Éireann) Bus Company and carries the broken wheel logo. Based in the Dublin area, this PD2 is shown working on local route A78 to Aston’s Quay. Registered ZJ 1388 and running on fleet number R428, it carries colourful side adverts for Amicardo Irish Sherry and Fruitfield Jam.
